220 Million years ago, life for these trees was very different. For starters, they were a lot closer to the equator. They met their demise in a continental break up of global proportions. They were knocked down and berried in ash and lava. Over time, their plant cellular structures absorbed the various minerals of the ash, mud, and lava that covered them. Now, stone and Quartz, their ancient structures are preserved until the sun, wind, and rain return them to the earth.
